Ratings Up For British Open
by Associated Press
NEW YORK (AP) ? British Open ratings on ABC were up both on Saturday and Sunday, even without Tiger Woods in contention.
On Saturday, when Woods shot an 81 in wind, rain and winter-like temperatures and dropped out of the top group, the rating was 4.2 with a 12 share, eight percent higher than last year, when the numbers were 3.9 and 12.
On Sunday, when no Americans were in contention and Ernie Els won a four-way playoff, the rating was 4.9 with a 14 share, seven percent higher than a year ago, when the rating was 4.6 and the share was 14.
The rating is the percentage of all homes with TVs, whether or not they are in use. The share is the percentage in homes with sets in use.
