Suit seeks ADA access to PGA tournaments

Two disabled golf fans are suing the PGA Tour for better wheelchair access to a dozen annual tournaments in Florida.
The suit filed last week in federal court builds on another access case involving the PGA's Honda Classic. That case was dismissed when the tournament moved to a different course, and the judge ruled that the lawsuit was site specific.
The new suit expands to all PGA events in Florida under the Americans With Disabilities Act, including all PGA Tour, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour events in the state.
In the suit, plaintiffs Robert Cohen and Patricia Kennedy claim easy changes can be made because spectator stands and public areas amount to new construction with each event.
A message left with the PGA's legal department was not immediately returned. Attorney Richard Woulfe, who represented event organizers in the earlier suit, said Tuesday that he was not aware of the new one.
